The B.C. Coroners Service has not yet identified the two people killed when an Air Nootka float plane crashed about 85 kilometres north of Tofino on Friday.

But members of the Comox District Mountaineering Club have been remembering Charles Turner in an online discussion forum.

Parksville resident Christine Rivers says Turner was a wonderful person, strong hiker and mountaineer who was also gentle, soft spoken and strong.

The float plane was carrying five passengers and a pilot and was heading to Gold River when it went down, just minutes after take off, into a forested area.
