Bombardier’s Tianjin, China BizAv facility progressing on schedule

Bombardier Business Aircraft and its partner Tianjin Airport Economic Area (TAEA), have announced their new maintenance facility in Tianjin, China, is making great progress. Construction of the building's exterior is 90 per cent complete, and the facility will be operated using similar processes and procedures that govern Bombardier's worldwide network of wholly-owned service centres. Bombardier Business Aircraft customers will be able to receive maintenance, repair, overhaul, and associated activities and services.

As part of Bombardier Business Aircraft’s commitment to operators in Asia, the new maintenance facility will further strengthen its customer support network in China, which includes a team of field service representatives and customer support account managers, as well as four authorized service facilities.

Technician training is also well underway, with 14 technicians currently receiving Bombardier’s type training course for mechanical and avionics certification in Montreal before heading to the Tucson Service Centre for an additional three months of on-the-job training. Paired with senior Bombardier technicians, they will perform a series of inspections and troubleshooting exercises to perfect their skills before returning to Tianjin. In addition to aircraft training, they will also become familiar with Bombardier Service Centre processes and quality control systems.

“Professional Services as well as quality and safety management systems are but a few key features we offer in China,” said Lanny Schindelmeiser, newly-appointed general manager, Bombardier Tianjin Aviation Services Company Ltd. “The business aviation sector in the region has experienced significant growth in the past, and we are excited to offer customers the full strength of our maintenance and support network, closer to their base of operations,” he added.

“The service facilities for business aircraft operations has greatly improved in Tianjin,” said Zhao Xuesen, Vice President of Tianjin Airport Economic Area, “In addition to the upcoming Bombardier Tianjin service centre, a new FBO for Biz jet with customs, CIQ, border inspection and security check services officially entered into service in Tianjin Airport recently. The movement of Business Aircraft reached 1,302 in Tianjin Airport in 2015. Under the superposition of multiple national development strategy, a rapid growth of business aviation can be anticipated in Tianjin during the period of 13th five-year.”

Since the facility’s groundbreaking in April 2015, progress is being made on a daily basis. Bombardier Business Aircraft will work with the local Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) office to obtain Part 145 certification (MRO) before year’s end – with EASA and FAA to follow shortly thereafter. Bombardier is expanding its customer support network to bring services closer to Beijing, the busiest business aviation hub in Mainland China and to its growing customer base in the region.

When completed, the service facility will include a hangar, office space, as well as back shop areas totalling 8,897 square meters (95,766 square feet).
