McCoomb joins on as new CATSA chair
Oct. 11, 2012, Ottawa - The Canadian Airports Council today welcomed the announcement that Lloyd McCoomb, former president and CEO of the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, has been named the new chairperson of the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority.

"A well respected Canadian airports veteran, Lloyd McCoomb will bring to CATSA a wealth of airport operational perspective from Canada's busiest airport," said CAC Chairman Tom Ruth. "Canada's airports welcome Lloyd to his new role as chair of CATSA, an organization with an important role for the industry with which we enjoy a close and collaborative working relationship."
Dr. McCoomb served as president and CEO of the GTAA, which operates Toronto Pearson International Airport, from 2007 until last January, during which time he also was on the board of directors of the CAC. He brings to CATSA more than 35 years of experience in transportation and engineering management.
Dr. McCoomb replaces Ian Glen, who has served as chair of CATSA since 2007. During this time, Mr. Glen presided over the crown corporation during a period of significant change at the authority charged with passenger, hold baggage and airport worker screening at 89 Canadian airports.
"During Mr. Glen's tenure, CATSA has marked its 10-year anniversary as the authority responsible for screening passengers and their baggage to ensure the safety and security of Canadian skies," said Mr. Ruth.
The CAC also today welcomed the appointment of Van Horne Institute President and CEO Peter Wallis to CATSA's board. Currently serving on the board of directors of Fort McMurray Airport Authority, Mr. Wallis is a former chairperson of the Calgary Airport Authority and also a former CAC board member.
"Canada's airports welcome these two accomplished aviation leaders to their new and important roles at CATSA," said Mr. Ruth.
