TC’s new aerodrome policy draws criticism

Ottawa - Transport Canada recently released an onerous and overreaching Notice of Proposed Amendment (NPA) in regard to the development and modification of new and existing aerodromes, which they have termed "Responsible Aerodrome Development."

April 1, 2015  By EAA

The proposal would require a lengthy public notification process prior to construction or alteration of an aerodrome, which per the NPA’s definition would include most private airstrips just the same as it does Canada’s largest airports, and everything in between. According to TC’s own estimate, even the smallest projects would incur a cost of between $6,000 and $15,000.

EAA will be voicing its strong objection to this proposal, and we encourage our members in Canada to submit their own comments to the NPA. Comments are due April 8th. In this document, EAA Canadian Council member Edward Lubitz outlines the NPA in more detail and provides a guide for drafting and submitting comments.
