Provincial Aerospace to help Canada's special forces?
Canada's special forces are turning to the private sector for help in early warning of possible terror threats coming from the sea. The ultra-secret organization is tapping into an existing fisheries surveillance contract with Provincial Airlines Ltd., a subsidiary of Provincial Aerospace Ltd. of St. John's, N.L., to monitor the movements of vessels of interest off the country's coastline.

Accident rate virtually unchanged in 10 years: ICAO
Although aviation has achieved a remarkable safety record, with fewer than four accidents per million departures worldwide, the global accident rate has remained essentially unchanged over the past 10 years, according to a report released on December 7 by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) entitled the "State of Global Aviation Safety – 2011."

RCAF's CP-140 Aurora gets new wings
IMP Group Limited, Aerospace Division, has announced that it will be rolling out the first re-winged CP-140 Aurora aircraft for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). These aircraft are receiving new wings as part of a mid-life structural upgrade being carried out by IMP Aerospace.

Discovery Aviation partners with Cambrian College
Discovery Aviation Academy has recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Cambrian College. Federal Court denies Air Canada's slot appeal
Porter Airlines says the Federal Court of Appeal has denied an appeal by larger rival Air Canada related to the allotment of tarmac slots at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Air Canada had challenged how takeoff and landing slots were awarded at the island airport just south of Toronto's downtown core, saying they were unfairly handed out.
