Attracting airlines top priority for Cape Breton airport
The new chairman of the J.A. Douglas McCurdy Sydney airport says he's eager to attract new carriers to the Cape Breton facility. Doug Peach, the retired director of finance for the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board, is taking over the job from Hayes MacNeil, who will serve as vice chairman of the airport's board.

Tories retool search-and-rescue plane plan
The Harper government may be ready to deliver on its long-standing promise to buy new search-and-rescue planes for the air force. The procurement plan, stuck in bureaucratic limbo for almost a decade, was approved by the federal cabinet just before Christmas and with a slightly bigger budget of $3.7 billion, according to defence sources.

First Air crew accidently flew plane into hill: TSB
A First Air crew had aborted an attempt to land its jetliner just seconds before it crashed into a hill near the Resolute airport in Nunavut, killing 12 people on board. An interim report released last week by the Transportation Safety Board says an initial examination of the wreckage of the chartered 737 turned up no mechanical problems.
