"It is both a privilege and a great honour for me to be able to invite my fellow “Moose Men and Women” to the 419 Tac F (T) Sqn Weekend Reunion 31 July to 4 August 2009.

"Since the Sqn’s inception at Mildenhall, Suffolk, England in 1941, it is you, the men and women of 419 Sqn that have contributed to and experienced over 40 years of triumph, sacrifice and camaraderie to become one of the most-decorated RCAF units ever activated.

"Next summer’s 419 Sqn reunion will coincide with the 4 Wing Cold Lake Air Display Weekend. Set to take place over the southern shores of Cold Lake, the Air show will commemorate the Centennial Anniversary of Powered Flight in Canada as well as celebrate the City of Cold Lake’s annual summer festival, Cold Lake Aqua Days.

"The reunion will host several activities including a Meet & Greet, formal dinner and dance, and a golf tournament in addition to the Air show and Aqua Days festivities. Plans are also underway to publish the historical archives from the Sqn’s War Years, CF-100, CF-5 and NFTC eras into a single history book to be released July 2009.

"Next summer’s reunion is an occasion long-overdue. I invite you all to take this opportunity to reunite with friends, to commemorate both the people and events that have contributed so much to 419 Squadron’s rich history while making this reunion, in turn, worthy of inclusion in that history."

Lieutenant-Colonel Tim “Moose” Shopa
