Passengers freed after hostage-taking in Jamaica

April 20, 2009, Montreal - Transat confirms that its customers, as well as the crew aboard CanJet Flight 918, have been freed after being involved in a hostage-taking.

April 20, 2009, Montreal – Transat confirms that its customers, as well as the crew aboard CanJet Flight 918, have been freed after being involved in a hostage-taking that began on April 19 at 11:30 p.m. ADT on the tarmac at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

All passengers and crew are safe and sound and no one was injured during the operation.
       
CanJet Flight 918 was en route from Halifax, Nova Scotia, to Montego Bay and Santa Clara, Cuba.
       
Passengers' families and friends can obtain information by calling the CanJet information line at 1-888-777-6429. Passengers will have access to psychological support services.
       
Transat is currently taking the necessary measures for passengers to be able to continue their trip.
       
All Transat and Transat Holidays operations in and out Halifax and Montego Bay are continuing as normal.
