RCAF setting stage for enhanced pilot training program

The Canadian government is setting the stage for a multibillion-dollar training program for its military pilots that will see them receive instruction not just on basic skills but also on flying a new fighter jet and other future aircraft.

The work is underway even though at this point the Liberal government doesn’t know how it will proceed on buying a new aircraft to replace the aging CF-18s. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said Canada will not purchase the F-35 stealth fighter, instead opening up competition to cheaper aircraft.
