Rimowa’s JU52 takes flight on cross-country tour

May 30, 2012, Toronto - Proving without a doubt that their uncompromised quality and craftsmanship extends to all aspects of the company, RIMOWA prepares their historic JU52 aircraft to grace major North American airports for the first time ever this July.

Nicknamed the “flying suitcase”, the JU52 aircraft, operated by JU-AIR, is reminiscent of genuine flying from the 1950’s, much like RIMOWA’s Classic Flight style luggage. It has original BMW engines, an open-access cockpit and the German high-quality materials and unmatched lightweight construction RIMOWA is known for.  It’s no wonder that RIMOWA CEO Dieter Morszeck say the two “simply belong together!”

Beginning in Germany, the JU52 will cross the Atlantic and touchdown in some of North America’s busiest terminals including Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles, Front Range Airport in Denver, White Plains Airport in New York and Billy Bishop City Airport in our very own Toronto. Events will take place at each stop bringing together media, celebrities and many loyal RIMOWA customers alike, to take part in sightseeing tours aboard the aircraft and a lavish dinner accompanied by live entertainment. Guests will experience RIMOWA’s passion for travel and flight firsthand at these once-in-a-lifetime soirees.

Last but definitely not least, RIMOWA’s JU52 will have an extended stopover for one week at the EAA Airshow in Wisconsin. A highlight of the JU52’s trip, this weeklong show boasts annual attendee numbers in the hundreds of thousands, making it the largest airshow this side of the globe.
