GANDER, NL – Irving Aviation will celebrate the grand opening of its new Gander Fixed Base Operation (FBO) today. The new 5,000 ft2 FBO facility replaces the original FBO which had been serving customers since 1992.

Irving Aviation’s Gander FBO is continuously ranked among the best FBOs in North America by prestigious industry publications such as Professional Pilot Magazine and Aviation International News. This year’s just-released Professional Pilot Magazine’s Annual FBO Survey has rated the Irving Gander FBO as the best in Canada. Irving Aviation also ranked highly in Aviation International News’ Annual Survey as the #2 FBO in Canada. The Gander FBO competes with FBOs in Keflavik, Iceland; Shannon, Ireland; and Luton, England.

“Our Gander FBO is strategically located on the Great Circle Route and serves as a technical refueling stop for private aircraft,” said Arthur Irving, Jr., Vice-President of Irving Oil. “This new facility will build on our Gander FBO’s leading reputation as a great stopping point for aircraft and travelers.”

The Irving Gander FBO employs 12 Flight Service Coordinators and Ground Handlers and 12 Refuelers. The facility is open for business 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. FBOs are private airport terminals designed to serve private and business aircraft that require fuel stops while on long flights. Gander is strategically located to serve Fortune 500 companies and other private aircraft and their passengers as they travel between the United States and Europe.
