July 23, 2009, Washington – National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) President and CEO Ed Bolen welcomed approval by the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee of legislation introduced last week to reauthorize Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) programs and continue development of a Next Generation Air Traffic Control System.
"We commend the Commerce Committee for its leadership in developing and approving legislation to ensure that the transformation of the nation's aviation system will continue," Bolen said. "We look forward to continuing to work with senators on FAA reauthorization as the issue progresses through the Senate."
The Senate Finance Committee will consider the tax portion of FAA reauthorization legislation. House lawmakers passed their version of FAA reauthorization legislation (H.R. 915) on May 21.
