In addition to being right next to an international border and airport, Abbotsford is close to the Fraser River and Pacific Ocean, which means easy access to the Pacific Northwest and facilities such as Boeing’s final assembly and integration production lines in Seattle, as well as the important Asia Pacific aerospace marketplace.

“I am very pleased that AIAC Pacific will be hosting the 2014 Aerospace, Defence & Security Expo in Abbotsford during Airshow Week,” commented the Hon. Ed Fast, MP for Abbotsford and Minister of International Trade. “As one of the world's leaders in aerospace, Canada is perfectly placed to leverage its innovation and knowledge advantage to drive economic growth and long-term prosperity for Canadians. I look forward to joining the hundreds of participants in showcasing Canadian excellence in this sector.”

Almost half of the world's air-traffic growth will be connected to or within the Asia Pacific region in the next 20 years. At the same time global airplane sales, for both fleet growth and replacement of aging aircraft, will total 35,000 units for a value of more than $4.8 trillion.

“Asia Pacific is a key market for Canada’s aerospace industry. Companies located on the west coast are perfectly situated to take advantage of this opportunity, which is made even greater by the B.C. government’s recent funding contribution,” said Jim Quick, president and CEO of AIAC.
