Bye Aerospace on July 29 announced that Skye Aviation LLC, an aircraft leasing company headquartered in Denver, Colorado, has completed purchase deposits for 15 eFlyer 800 aircraft.

“Skye Aviation is the first all-electric aircraft leasing company in the world,” said George Bye, CEO of Bye Aerospace. “We are honoured by their selection of the eFlyer 800 to be the foundation for their fleet, and we applaud their forward-reaching strategy. Momentum for electric aviation continues to grow at an incredible pace.”

Bye Aerospace announced its eFlyer 800 program earlier this year based on what the company describes as growing demands for regional all-electric airplanes. The company estimates eFlyer will eventually eliminate the release of millions of metric tons of CO2 each year as its deliveries begin and the general aviation fleet is replaced.

Bye Aerospace is in the process of obtaining FAA Part-23 certification for the eFlyer 2 for the professional flight training mission and the four-seat eFlyer 4 for air taxi, cargo and advanced training uses. The company currently has approximately 800 airplanes in its production backlog over its three models of eFlyer aircraft.

“Skye Aviation is thrilled to be the world’s first all-electric aircraft leasing firm and to be able to exclusively offer Bye Aerospace’s eFlyer family of eCTOL aircraft,” said Carol Johnson with Skye Aviation. “Skye fully supports sustainable, safe aviation leasing solutions for our customers while at the same time slashing eCTOL operating costs, aircraft noise, maintenance and supply requirements efforts.”
