Tanker company sues B.C. government over fuel spill mishap

A company whose fuel tanker truck overturned and spilled thousands of litres of jet fuel into a fish-bearing stream in the Slocan Valley during a forest-firefighting operation two years ago is suing the B.C. government for damages.

The lawsuit filed by Executive Flight Centre Fuel Services and naming three government ministries as defendants is the latest in a series of legal skirmishes arising from the July 2013 spill into Lemon Creek.

The company, which was hired by the government to supply fuel to helicopters fighting fires in the area, alleges the government failed to properly maintain a forest service road where the incident happened. | READ MORE
