April 9, 2012, Yellowknife, N.W.T. - Tli Cho Air, which is owned by the Tlicho Investment Corporation as well as minority shareholder and Discovery Air subsidiary Air Tindi Ltd., has been recognized by the NWT Chamber of Commerce as the 2012 Business of the Year.

"Tli Cho Air is an Aboriginal-owned company that has had an exceptional run over the past 12 months," said NWT Chamber President Hughie Graham. "It purchased its own multi-million-dollar Dash 7 aircraft and has since won two multi-year, multi-million-dollar contracts serving EKATI and Diavik."

Accepting the prestigious award at the NWT Chamber Annual General Meeting in Yellowknife was Tlicho Investment Corp. President George Mackenzie.

"This is a great honour to be recognized by the business community in this way," said Mackenzie. "Certainly I would like to thank our long-time partners Air Tindi and Discovery Air as well as the Diamond Mines who have given us a big boost by using our company."

Tli Cho Air also provides all scheduled service flights to the Tlicho communities of Whati, Wekweeti and Gameti working in partnership with Air Tindi — which conducts all flight operations for the company. "We have certainly come a long way," added Mackenzie. "Not too long ago, we all used to have dog sleds and now we own our own aircraft."
