Transat welcomes new federal tourism strategy

Oct. 7, 2011, Montreal - Jean-Marc Eustache, President and Chief Executive Officer of Transat A.T. Inc., one of the largest integrated tourism companies in the world and Canada's holiday travel leader, welcomes the Federal Tourism Strategy introduced today by the Honourable Maxime Bernier, Minister of State for Small Business and Tourism.

"We have always believed in the importance of developing Canada's tourism potential and we salute the government's initiative, which ranks tourism development among its priorities and indicates that it plans to make increasingly concerted efforts," Mr. Eustache said. "The stated objective of $100 billion in tourism revenues nationwide by 2015 and the short-term priorities set out in this strategy are steps in the right direction and meet the pressing need for a national strategy on Canada's tourism offering."
