Two injured as floatplane collides with barge

July 10, 2012, Peterborough, Ont. - Provincial police say two people have been transported to hospital following a collision between a plane and a barge north of Peterborough.

Police say a float plane attempting a takeoff collided with a barge at Gannon's Narrows between Pigeon Lake and Buckhorn Lake.

There were seven people on the barge and a single pilot in the plane at the time of the collision.

The pilot and one person from the barge have been taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre with undetermined injuries.

The Transportion Safety Board has been notified and an investigation is ongoing.

Boaters are being asked to avoid the Gannon's Narrows area during the investigation.
