UAV Excellence Centre coming to Alma

May 31, 2011, Alma, Que. - The municipal council of Alma and the leaders of the Alma Airport are proud to announce the official creation of the Unmanned Aircraft Vehicule (UAV) Excellence Center in Alma.

The responsibles of the municipality, along with the responsibles of the Alma Airport, have been working for over two (2) years with many local, regional and national partners for the development of the UAV Excellence Center in Alma. CAE, a world leader in simulation technologies and formation services, joins as a member of the UAV Excellence Center board of Directors.

Located at the Alma Airport and incorporated as a nonprofit organization, the UAV Excellence Center aims to provide within the next few years many services in the following fields :
• Formation;
• Tests and tries;
• Airline operations;
• Maintenance;
• Manufacturing activities;
• Research and development.

According to the municipal counselor Pascal Pilote, also president of the Alma Airport, "the UAV Excellence Center is a pole for a multitude of industrial companies focused on aerospace. A world leader like CAE as a board Directors member will assure a high expertise in the aerospace industry. This is a first step that will help the UAV Excellence Center to bring others UAV actors in Alma."

The mayor of the city, Mr Marc Asselin, adds: "We have faith in the UAV sector, in terms of employment of high technologies and economic benefits."

The UAV industry is one of the most booming in the world and the market is highly expending in many areas such as commercial, energy, telecommunications, natural ressources, security and supervising.
