This agreement authorizes Fuerza Aerea Argentina (AAF) to provide world class OEM backed support services for the Twin Otter program with respect to government and military maintenance, warranty work, and Viking recognized modifications at their base in Quilmes, Argentina.
The agreement follows the successful completion by Viking of two contracts covering the complete overhaul and modernization of two AAF DHC-6-200 Twin Otters from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), acting on behalf of the Government of Argentina and the Argentine Aeronautic Administration (AAA).
The FEMSC contract will enable AAA to complete routine maintenance up to “C” check level, installation of new upgraded engines and propellers, Supplemental Type Certificates (STC), and incorporation of applicable Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins, with the work to be performed by Argentina Air Force personnel under the supervision, instruction, and training of Viking.
“After completion of our second major overhaul contract with the Argentina Air Force (AAF), we are pleased to recognize the AAF as a Factory Endorsed Military Service Center providing them with the support to maintain not only their own fleet of DHC-6 Twin Otters, but other government and military operator’s of Twin Otters in the region as well,” commented Robert Mauracher, Viking’s vice president Business Development and general manager MRO. He added, “With ICAO’s help, we have built a strong and lasting relationship with the AAF, and welcome them to the growing support network for the Twin Otter aircraft.”
