Women in Aerospace-Canada wins top award

Nov. 1, 2011, Winnipeg - On October 15th, 2011, WIA-Canada was presented the J.A.D. McCurdy Award by Air Force Association National President Brian Darling and Major-General Yvan Blondin, CMM, CD, Commander of 1 Air Division (Winnipeg) for their contribution to the advancement of women in the Canadian aerospace sector.

Valerie Wilson, Chair of WIA-Canada, accepted this honour on behalf of the group at the Air Force Association of Canada's Annual Awards Banquet in Quebec City. Ms. Wilson stated: "It is truly an honour to be the 2011 recipient of the J.A.D. McCurdy Award and recognized by the Air Force Association of Canada. This recognition raises both the profile and prestige of Women in Aerospace – Canada.”
 
Women in Aerospace – Canada is dedicated to expanding women's opportunities for leadership and increasing their visibility in the aerospace community by creating a professional network in Canada and abroad. Membership is comprised of both women and men, sharing an interest in a wide spectrum of aerospace issues.
 
Women in Aerospace – Canada is thrilled to have their name added to the J.A.D. McCurdy trophy, which will be on display for one year at WIA-Canada events.
