Western Economic Diversification Canada provided $15,500 in funding to support business development activities at the Airshow targeted at western Canadian small-and medium-sized enterprises, including meetings with key stakeholders, networking opportunities and information sessions on a variety of topics such as Industrial and Regional Benefits.

"Events like this provide excellent opportunities for representatives of industry, government and not-for-profit organizations to share knowledge and insights," said Minister Yelich. "In the West, this sector is a dynamic and vibrant one, and our Government is committed to ensuring that these Canadian companies have the means to succeed in today's competitive global environment."

Since 2006, WD has contributed more than $37 million towards supporting Western Canada's aerospace and defence industries. This includes initiatives to improve productivity and innovation, as well as develop aerospace technology and equipment. To help promote Western Canada's expertise and capabilities in this sector, Minister Yelich led a WD delegation to the International Paris Air Show in June.
