Jan. 8, 2008, Ottawa -The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of
Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, today announced the designation of
Zoom Airlines to operate scheduled international air services between Canada
and Italy.

"I am pleased that Zoom's designation will provide additional airline
choices for Canadians travelling between Canada and Italy," said Minister
Cannon. "This increase in scheduled air services is a great example of growth
in the airline industry and of the Canada-European Union bilateral market."

Under the provisions of Canada's international air transportation policy,
all Canadian air carriers may apply to the Minister for designation to operate
scheduled international air services. This latest designation was made
possible by the bilateral air transport agreement already in place between
Canada and Italy.

The agreement permits each country to designate any number of airlines
for the operation of scheduled air services to and from Canada. In addition,
there are no limits on the frequency of flights each designated airline is
allowed to operate.
