Doug Peach, the retired director of finance for the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board, is taking over the job from Hayes MacNeil, who will serve as vice chairman of the airport's board.

Peach says the board has approached air carriers to see if they'd be interested in serving the Cape Breton site.

Currently Air Canada is the airport's main carrier, while WestJet flies into Sydney on a seasonal basis.

Peach said pitches and presentations have been made to other carriers, such as Porter.
