Avmax Aircraft Leasing purchases government’s old Dash-8

The last plane in Alberta’s oft-criticized fleet of aircraft sold this week to Calgary-based Avmax Aircraft Leasing Inc., the province confirmed Thursday.

Avmax purchased the 1985 DeHavilland Dash-8 for $5,026,000, Service Alberta said. It had been listed at a reserve price of $4.9 million. 

The 36-passenger plane had been in a hangar at the Edmonton International Airport since former premier Jim Prentice grounded the fleet in late 2014. | READ MORE
