The centre will be located at the Barcelona El Prat Airport and will be ready for training by mid-2012.

CAE currently offers training services at 35 locations worldwide for operators of commercial aircraft, business aircraft and civil helicopters.

CAE also announced that it has signed a seven-year agreement with Vueling Airlines as the anchor customer for the CAE Barcelona training centre. Vueling Airbus A320 pilots and cabin crew will train at the new facility. Training will also be available to other A320 operators.

"We have enjoyed a long association with Vueling for pilot training and pilot sourcing, and we are pleased to be able to provide training at its main operations hub in Spain, in effect at its doorstep," said Jeff Roberts, CAE Group President, Civil Simulation Products, Training and Services. "CAE is committed to delivering the highest-quality, holistic training solutions, tailoring our portfolio of simulation products and training services to our customers' unique requirements."

"Our pilots and cabin crew look forward to continuing the high levels of training in a location that is very close to our home base," said Alex Cruz, Chief Executive Officer, Vueling Airlines. "We have the highest regard for CAE's people, technology and service excellence."

The training centre is located in Parc de Negocis Mas Blau II, and is close to Vueling headquarters. CAE Barcelona will initially feature one A320 full-flight simulator, built and owned by CAE. The facility will be expandable to four simulator bays.

This will be CAE's third training location in Spain and ninth in Europe. CAE Madrid has trained pilots and maintenance personnel for Vueling, Iberia and other airlines since 2002. It also initiated cabin crew training last year. CAE offers Boeing 737NG simulator training capability at the Air Europa Training Centre in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
