Canadian Aviation and Space Museum gets top honour
Feb. 10, 2014, Ottawa - The Canada Aviation and Space Museum has received a touristic “shot in the wing” by landing the No. 10 spot on a CNN list of top aviation museums around the world.

The U.S. network described its admittedly unscientific listing as a
grouping of 14 sites that “capture the achievements and products of the
pilots, designers and engineers who got us from those rickety first
flights to space travel and people clipping their toenails next to us in
seat 17B.”
The Ottawa museum
was singled out for, among other things, the variety of its exhibits,
including “the nose section of an Avro Canada CF-105 Arrow (one of few
remaining parts of the Canadian-built fighter jet) and a flight
simulator.”
CNN quotes museum director general Stephen Quick as
noting: “Our collection features original aircraft as opposed to
reproduced versions.”
The museum has also recently welcomed a variety of space-related gear and items, including the famous original Canadarm.
The museum has also received an Award of Excellence from Trip Advisor.
First place on the CNN list went to the massive Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.
