Federal mediator seeks to end St. John’s strike
Feb. 19, 2013, St. John's - A federal mediator has been called in to bring striking airport workers and the St. John's International Airport back to the table.

Federal Mediator Barney Dobbin called both groups back to negotiations Saturday morning.
The roughly 90 unionized maintenance workers — which include mechanics, electricians and administrative personnel — have been on strike since Sept. 11, 2012.
Both sides have agreed to a media blackout, which means neither party will be available for comment until talks conclude.
The airport authority said in September the Public Service Alliance of Canada asked for a 58 per cent wage increase over four
years.
The union has said the employees have not seen a wage increase in four years and have been without a collective agreement since 2009.
