Field Aviation, Australia’s Hawker Pacific sign pact

This flight deck upgrade has been specifically designed by Field Aviation for the classic Dash 8 100/200/300 series aircraft and developed in close cooperation with Universal Avionics. The upgrade features five identical Universal Avionics EFI-890R, high definition flat panel displays of which four primarily present the pilots with navigation and flight information and the fifth (centre display) presents engine information. The system provides full redundancy by allowing information to be switched between displays, as well as a modular upgrade path for features such as synthetic vision, radio control units, flight management systems and weather radar upgrade.

Recognizing Hawker Pacific's reach in the Australian, New Zealand and Asian markets, Chris Cooper-Slipper, Field Aviation's vice-president, marketing commented, "In Hawker Pacific we see a company with an internationally recognizable brand, with a breadth of technical sales and engineering capabilities that will support our goal of developing sales and installations of our flight deck upgrade throughout the Asia Pacific region". He further added, "Field Aviation has spent considerable resources on developing and bringing this flight deck modernization to market, and with the upgrade now certified across all three classic Dash 8 series, we are delighted to have such a respected and capable company as Hawker Pacific team with Field Aviation and to market and increase sales throughout the Asian Pacific region."

Doug Park, Hawker Pacific's senior vice-president, Australian and New Zealand operations and special programs, commenting on the agreement said, "In Field Aviation we see an established company much like ourselves with core competences in aeronautical engineering, avionics and mechanical and structural modification capabilities. We not only see great potential for Field's EFI-890R upgrade in our region but view this as a first step in what we hope will become an alliance that will promote more of our products and services globally".

The Sales Teaming Agreement between Field Aviation and Hawker Pacific was jointly announced at the Bombardier All Operators Conference in Orlando, Florida where coincidently, Field Aviation announced that it has just received a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for its Universal Avionics EFI-890R display system in the full line of classic DHC-8 aircraft.
