“A new destination is always a special occasion for Porter. Not only does it represent growth for the airline, it opens a new door for travel and exploration for our passengers,” said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines of Porter Airlines. “Our customers are excited to take advantage of the rich history and hospitality that this southern city is known for. We also welcome new passengers from the Charleston area who will travel with Porter for the first time.”

Paul G. Campbell, Jr., director of airports for the Charleston County Aviation Authority, which owns and operates Charleston International Airport and two general aviation airports, said Canada is the largest source of international tourism for the Charleston area. “With today’s inaugural flight to and from Toronto, the doors of non-stop international travel have opened to our passengers,” said Campbell. “We’re pleased to have Porter as one of our outstanding airline partners, and we are excited to give travellers another choice in great destinations they can easily reach from Charleston and Toronto.”

Currently ranked as the number two city in the world and the number one city in the U.S. by Condé Nast Traveler, Charleston is a must-see destination for its history, architecture, superior golf courses and pristine beaches.

“It has become evident to us that Porter Airlines has a loyal following among Canadian travellers that are looking for authentic experiences as they move about North America,” said Dan Blumenstock, Chairman of the Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Porter’s expanding network throughout Canada and its convenient service to downtown Toronto is a welcome addition for our hospitality industry’s ability to serve the most discerning from this new market.”

Porter is an ideal match for Charleston. The airline is internationally-recognized, including as Top Small Airline in the World (2013) by Condé Nast Traveler, for its distinct service. This includes access to airport lounges for all passengers, leather seating onboard, and complimentary in-flight beer and wine.
