Program: School of Transportation

Centennial College

Centennial College has a long history of providing Transport Canada approved aviation training programs. In the fall of 2019, Centennial College opened its new 12,700-square-metre facility at Toronto’s Downsview Park. The $72-million project includes a new hangar large enough to accommodate today’s commercial jets, as well as new classrooms, laboratory space, workshops, offices, a library and, for the first time, access to working runways.

The campus facilitates the relocation of our long-running Aviation Technician programs, as well as the related aircraft and equipment from the Ashtonbee Campus Hangar in Scarborough. The campus provides additional instruction space for the existing programs, as well as new programs in Aerospace Manufacturing.

As of March 2023, the new Canadian Integrated Airline Transport Pilot Licence (CIATPL) program will start. The program uses scenario-based situations with intensive training in both aircraft and advanced flight simulation equipment to provide the knowledge and skills needed to obtain a Private Pilot licence, a Commercial Pilot licence and a (frozen) Airline Transport Pilot licence. The CIATPL program is run in partnership with Toronto Airways Inc., from their Oshawa Airport facility (at the Canadian Flight Academy building).

Aviation programs offered by the School of Transportation include: Aviation Technician (Aircraft Maintenance), Aviation Technician (Avionics Maintenance), Aviation Technology (Aircraft Maintenance & Management), and Aviation Technology (Avionics Maintenance & Management), Canadian Integrated Airline Transport Pilot Licence (flight training program)
