Officials at the CFB Trenton Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre say a search last night didn't turn up any sign of the aircraft.

The plane's last known co-ordinates were south of the community of Hastings, east of Peterborough, Ont.

Provincial police Const. Phil Clarke says it's a challenging search because of the rural terrain.

Five military and five civilian aircraft will take to the sky this morning to continue the search as police and coast guard vessels focus on the north shore of Lake Ontario.

The plane left St-Mathieu De Beloeil, Que., on Monday night and was supposed to arrive at the Buttonville Airport in Markham, Ont., north of Toronto, at 11 p.m.
