June 23, 2008, Calgary – WestJet today commented on the announcement made this morning by the Ottawa
International Airport Authority to reduce terminal fees. In response to
skyrocketing fuel costs and the weakened economies in Canada and the
U.S., effective July 1, 2008, the Authority will reduce its general
terminal fees by five per cent.

"We thank the Ottawa International Airport Authority for its
voluntary decision to reduce terminal fees and commend it for
acknowledging the increasing cost pressures airlines are facing as a
result of fuel prices," commented Ken McKenzie, WestJet Executive
Vice-President, Operations. "As we continue to focus on ways to reduce
our costs, we are also looking to the rest of Canada's airports to
follow the cost-reduction initiatives demonstrated by Ottawa in today's
announcement. As Canadian airports set their 2009 rates, we hope they
do their part to ensure air travel remains affordable for all
Canadians."
