Highest Passenger Traffic in History of Airport

WINNIPEG, Sept. 27 /CNW/ – For the second month in a row, passenger traffic recorded by Winnipeg Airports Authority Inc. (WAA) has set records. "To realize passenger growth of 8.5% (year-over-year) is a measure of a vibrant economy. Accommodating that growth while undergoing Airport Site Redevelopment is testament to our Vision of Leading Transportation Innovation and Growth," said Barry Rempel, President and CEO of Winnipeg Airports Authority. "Along with thanking our community for their patience during a very
busy construction season, I applaud airport employees in meeting the challenges of serving our customers during this record breaking year."
August 2006 was the highest passenger month in the history of Winnipeg International Airport. July's total was 317,040 and in August traffic surged to another record, with a total of 334,574 passengers or 8.5% higher than August 2005.
