AIAC supports Government commitment to aerospace
June 7, 2011, Ottawa - The Aerospace Industries Association of Canada (AIAC) and its member companies are fully supportive of the Government's commitment to conduct a comprehensive review of programs and policies related to the Canadian aerospace/space industry to develop a policy framework, and maintain stable funding of the Strategic Aerospace and Defence Initiative (SADI) while doing so.

AIAC also commends the Government for its commitment to the development of a defence procurement strategy.
"This is the beginning of a great era for Canadian aerospace that will allow us to build on our strong past successes," said Claude Lajeunesse, President & CEO of AIAC. "AIAC member firms and other aerospace stakeholders are eager to come together and provide the Government with recommendations and advice on how best to enhance Canada's world leadership in aerospace including Space," he added.
Adopting sound military procurement practices that acknowledge the outstanding expertise of our industrial base will be a key element of the future competitiveness of the aerospace sector. "Our capabilities in aerospace and defence are the envy of larger nations. It is imperative that they be taken into account in the planning of military acquisitions as well as in the maintenance of the equipment that meet the needs of the Canadian Forces," said Dr. Lajeunesse.
"Thanks to the Government's vision, Canada's aerospace industry will be in a better position to take advantage of the outstanding forecasted global growth for commercial aircraft and create additional value-added jobs for Canadians from coast-to-coast," Dr Lajeunesse concluded.
AIAC also applauds the continued reduction of corporate taxes, the reduction of red-tape for small business and as well as the extension of the two-year write off for investments in manufacturing and processing machinery.
