Dr. Christie is the Executive Vice President of the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada (AIAC), a member-driven, not-for-profit, national organization that promotes and facilitates Canadian competitiveness in the global aerospace industry. Dr. Christie will succeed CASI President Mr. Dave Muir, CEO of GasTOPS.

Later this year, CASI will host the 65th International Astronautical Congress in Toronto. The IAC is one of the largest annual multidisciplinary space events, taking place in a different city every year. IAC 2014 will be held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from September 29 to October 3, 2014 with the theme “Our World Needs Space”.

“It is an honour to be named President of CASI during this important time,” said Dr. Christie. “The Canadian aviation and space industries have a strong heritage of excellence and a great deal of opportunity ahead. I look forward to working with my colleagues, the industry, and the members of CASI over the coming year.”

As President of the Council, Dr. Christie will work with Council members to provide strategic advice to CASI’s management team regarding the overall direction and priorities of the Institute. In addition Dr. Christie will participate in a tour of all CASI branches to engage with members and branch representatives on local activities.
