Columbia Avionics completes modernization program

Oct. 21, 2009 – Columbia Avionics has recently completed a comprehensive avionics modernization program and heavy maintenance on a Cessna 650 Model VI for the Chilean Direccion General De Aeronautica Civil (DGAC). Columbia Avionics was selected to perform these upgrades and inspections over numerous facilities from around the world.

The avionics modernization included the Universal Avionics 3 Display EFI-890R EFIS system, Vision-1® Synthetic Vision System, Application Server Unit, Radio Control Units, TAWS A and an Universal FMS upgrade. Other systems installed include TCAS II, the Columbia Avionics RVSM Group Approval STC.
 
The maintenance performed on the aircraft consisted of numerous required inspection items such as the Inspection Document 8 and the incorporation of numerous Cessna Service Bulletins and Service Letters.
 
According to Jose Blanco, Chief Pilot for the DGAC, “Columbia Avionics did an outstanding job with the avionics modernization and inspections on our aircraft. The quality of the work was first class. The work was performed on schedule, on budget and delivered without any problems. I highly recommend Columbia Avionics to other aircraft operators.”
