DoveTail is aimed at the higher-end of Business Class and is Jamco’s next foray into the aviation seat market. It follows the Company’s launch of its ACS Journey Business Class seat for the A350, enabling Jamco to capture the differing market segments.
DoveTail features a sleek, modern and elegant modular design, with a minimum number of parts. It’s a simple and lightweight seat easily deployed via a single actuator to a fully flat bed, ensuring low maintenance costs. All passengers enjoy di! rect aisle access in a 1-2-1 configuration. According to Jamco and JPA Design, DoveTail “has been designed from the ground up to benefit from commonality of parts wherever possible.”
Flexible companion travel feature
DoveTail, its name inspired by how handcrafted joinery is beautifully meshed together and the tail feathers of a Dove, has been developed with flexibility in mind. Its unique companion travel feature allows passengers the choice of full privacy for part, or all, of their journey through their personally controlled environment. If desired, passengers can adjust privacy levels by simply sliding the centre partition to create an opening to engage with their fellow passenger.
DoveTail is designed to maximize available space.
Through its clever layout there is a 10-15% gain in the main area of the ottoman/toe box, which enables optimization of available space ! across the cabin. This gain also offers passengers a per!sonal environment with more surface area for a restful sleep, along with several personal storage options at their fingertips. It features a beautifully streamlined large, single leaf table for dining and working, which pivots neatly out of the centre console. With a class leading 18.5 screen, LED reading lights, in seat power, USB and HDMI ports, DoveTail is optimised for the next generation of IFE.
“Responding to market demand, Jamco has expanded our premium seating product offerings. Partnering with JPA, we see our new DoveTail seat as a game changer offering beautiful styling and maximum space utilisation. Our goal was to create a seat that would offer the passenger a wonderful experience whilst achieving the density the airlines require. DoveTail has been evolving over the past few years based on direct customer input and we were able to showcase this wonderful evolution at this year’s Hamburg Ex! po to much excitement. Drawing on our strong manufacturing background producing world class galleys and lavatories, Jamco has built the production infrastructure to quickly become equally successful within the premium seat market.” Said Rick Werth, Jamco America’s Director of Sales and Marketing.
Ben Orson, Managing Director at JPA Design adds; “DoveTail has been an exciting and at the same time a challenging product to design and develop. Throughout this process and to get the design absolutely right, we have built a series of mock-ups, honed the ergonomics with subjects from around the world, refining elements on feedback to ensure that the final product is right. JPA is constantly looking ahead to understand the possibilities of how we can improve passengers travel experience for tomorrow and the years ahead. With the launch of DoveTail™, together with Jamco we feel that we have created a best in segment Premium Bus! iness Class seat that not only offers the airline space savings within ! the cabin but ensures that their customers have a relaxing, comfortable journey within a sleek and beautiful environment.”
DoveTail’s unique design opens up innovative opportunities for Jamco and JPA Design to create optimised space utilization for end row monuments at the front and back of the seat rows. For example; an integrated baby basinet, which received positive feedback at the recent Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg; fitting room or integrated welcome area. Since Jamco is known for their expertise creating lavatories and galleys the company can maximise the cabin environment usage, enhancing all areas at the front of the aircraft.
Airline customers (Jamco are currently in advanced discussions with undisclosed airlines) can choose to have the DoveTail seat tailored to the airlines requirements by the modification of the centre console and can opt for either this latest streamlined flexibl! e design with the optional companion travel arrangement or absolute privacy through a totally self-contained unit. Customers also have the ability to influence and adapt the visual language of the DoveTail™ product and take ownership of a truly beautiful Premium Business Class seat.
