Minnesota pilot dies in northern Ontario crash

Aug. 12, 2011, Dryden, Ont. - A Minnesota man has died in a small plane crash in northern Ontario.

Provincial police say the plane crashed in Abram Lake, about 450 kilometres northeast of Thunder Bay, around 4 p.m. Monday.

Police say a pilot and his dog were in the plane when it crashed near Reese Island.

The pilot was pronounced dead at hospital, while police have not said what happened to the dog.

The name of the man from Sunfish Lake, Minn., has not been released. An autopsy has been scheduled for today in Kenora.

Transport Canada will help with the investigation.
