Within days of Transport Canada’s certification on the Tecnam P2006T twin, Canada’s Mount Royal University has taken the opportunity to immediately upgrade its flight training fleet. All three Tecnam P2006T twins will be shipped to Calgary during December and will be available to train the next generation of professional commercial pilots in early 2012.

Mount Royal University’s (MRU) Tecnam P2006T fleet will be equipped with the Garmin 950 suite, ADF and S-Tec 55X autopilots.

When Mount Royal first opened its doors more than 100 years ago in September, 1911 it welcomed 179 students. Today, some 12,000 credit students take a variety of programs. For more than 40 years, MRU has also offered an integrated aviation program.

“MRU is looking forward to incorporating the three Tecnam P2006T aircraft into our fleet’’ said Dr. Kori Street. Chair of Aviation, MRU. ‘’We believe that the addition of the Tecnams into our program will enhance the aviation education we provide and better prepare our students for a successful future in the dynamic aviation industry. Given the moderate operating costs, the Tecnams provide an exciting opportunity to increase our twin engine training, something that will be a unique feature of our program. Deanna, our CFI tells me that she is speechless with excitement!”

"The quality of the personnel, equipment and working arrangements with Tecnam North America have been readily apparent’’. Said Dr. Murray Young, Dean of the Bissett School of Business, Mount Royal University.

"We are truly honored to have been chosen as the preferred provider of twins for a university as prestigious as Mount Royal’’ said Phil Solomon, President and CEO of Tecnam North America, exclusive distributor for Tecnam aircraft in North America.

"Our Tecnam P2006T offering enables professional flight training schools to offer far more twin based training than the competition at an affordable cost to the students’’.
said Paolo Pascale, Tecnam’s Managing Director. ‘’We have delivered nearly 100 Tecnam P2006T Next-Generation twins and with many more on order, we have now accelerated production to meet this unprecedented demand, resulting in our delivering a Tecnam P2006T every 5 days, firmly establishing Tecnam as the world’s Number 1 for light twin aircraft deliveries’’.

The Tecnam P2006T Next-Generation twin is in a class of its own, bringing affordable multi-engine flying to aero-clubs, flying schools, syndicates and private aircraft owners. In addition, the P2006T has sparked significant interest on a larger scale for charter/air-taxi usage as well as a platform for surveillance and observation for government usage. The P2006T offers unbeatable value, coupled with low operating and ownership costs, innovative design and Italian styling. The Rotax '912S' engine (plus the option of a Garmin glass cockpit) allows the P2006T to lead with respect to the environment too. With both a remarkable fuel saving offering and much lower noise emissions, it promises to redefine both the flight training and aircraft ownership experience in one step.
