Jan. 28, 2009, Montreal – Jean-Marc Eustache, president and CEO of Transat A.T. Inc., one of the largest integrated tourism companies in the world and Canada's holiday travel leader, says he is delighted to see measures to stimulate tourism in Canada's new Economic Action Plan.
"We have the duty to develop Canada's tourism potential. Although still a major destination, Canada continues to suffer from tenacious competition, while all countries are fighting bitterly over tourists," Mr. Eustache said. "So I am pleased to see the government moving in this direction, which we see as highly strategic for the future."
Transat, through its business unit Jonview Canada, is Canada's largest incoming tour operator, having sold more than 260,000 travel packages to this country in 2008.
