Richard Mears has been appointed as the director for global defence and aerospace sales for Survitec’s Defence & Aerospace division, which he joined in mid-July 2019, taking on the responsibility for the division’s sales and customer service.

Mears previously served as CEO and president of QinetiQ Inc (USA), a company he joined as director of international business development. Prior to this role, he held senior business development director roles at Babcock and Northrop Grumman.

“We are delighted to welcome Richard to Survitec as the new director for global defence and aerospace sales. He brings with him a deep understanding of International market dynamics and a wealth of customer service experience,” said Martin Whittaker, managing director for defence and aerospace for Survitec.

Survitec recently restructured its Defence & Aerospace division to better align its business in key markets, which includes a renewed emphasis on its international and regional customer service mix.

“There has never been a more exciting time to join Survitec. Its decades-long reputation of being a high-end equipment supplier to the defence and aerospace industries is further strengthened as it evolves into a service partner to these sectors,” said Mears.

Focused on developing survival and safety solutions for the marine, defence, aviation and energy markets, Survitec has over 3,000 employees worldwide covering eight manufacturing facilities, 15 offshore support centres and over 70 owned service centres. It is supported by a network of more than 500 third-party service centres and distributors.
