Porter launches enhanced VIPorter Loyalty Program

Porter Airlines is relaunching its VIPorter loyalty program, making significant changes for the first time since it was introduced in 2008. When members travel within the Porter network, they earn free flights and premium status faster than with any other Canadian carrier.

Points are now earned on every dollar spent, from flights to seat selection and changes, as well as checked bags. This new structure means members can earn points faster.

Members can also redeem points on any flight, at any time, with no blackout dates. If there is a seat available for sale, members can redeem their points. The number of points needed to redeem a flight is based on the fare at time of booking. In nearly every market, the number of points needed is fewer than before.

Among the most significant changes to the program is the introduction of premium member tiers. Each tier recognizes the airline’s most frequent flyers with added benefits. Some of these benefits include accelerated points earning, priority airport services, complimentary checked bags and advanced seat selection.

“Our business has changed since VIPorter was introduced seven years ago. Our network has grown and our customers have diversified,” said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines. “The new VIPorter is a best-in-class loyalty program and gives our passengers another level of service beyond the high standards that we have become known for. We believe the new VIPorter is far and away the best program for frequent travellers in our network, offering elite-level benefits these travellers want much faster than our competitors.”

VIPorter members will also earn points on Porter Escapes packages at set rates.

In addition to redeeming exclusively with points, members have a new Dollars & Points option. They can redeem points to cover half the base fare and pay for the other half. Points do not expire for active members who take at least one flight every two years.

As of September 16, VIPorter members will begin receiving information about the new program, including their new membership level based on travel history. Members immediately begin earning points based on their new VIPorter tier status and will automatically receive corresponding benefits during travel if their membership number is included with the reservation. For premium members, their travel companions on the same itinerary are also eligible to receive their premium benefits.
